Facilities
At our main hospital site we have seven consult rooms and our reception has a large waiting area with separate rooms for cats and dogs. We have a wide range of facilities at PetMedics which are essential in the running of a modern veterinary practice.
As part of our refurbishment we installed a CT scanner, which allows us to perform detailed imaging and is more sensitive than traditional X-ray when looking at certain types of problem. In addition to CT our digital X-ray and ultrasound machines allow us to examine areas within the body that are difficult or impossible to assess from just a physical examination.
We have our own in-house laboratory in which we can run a wide range of different blood tests and get the results on the same day. This can be particularly important for critically ill animals where treatment needs to start as soon as possible. We also regularly assess other types of samples such as urine and skin scrapes.
As well as our diagnostic facilities we have a separate four operating theatres for carrying out sterile surgical procedures. Each theatre has its own anaesthetic machine which help us to safely maintain animals of all sizes under general anaesthesia using a continuous flow of oxygen and anaesthetic gas. Every anaesthetic is always carefully monitored by both the operating surgeon and one of our specially trained nursing staff. When patients need to be admitted to hospital, or recovered after an anaesthetic we provide them with a warm, safe, comfortable kennel with separate areas for cats and dogs. We also have special walk in kennels for large dogs.
In addition to our standard kennelling areas we also have in intensive care unit, where our more critical patients stay. They always have a registered veterinary nurse with them in order to ensure close monitoring.
We also have a fully stocked pet shop at our Worsley address, which provides a great range of products for all types of animals.
Our Walkden site has two consulting rooms and a separate operating and prep area. It also has a smaller version of our main hospital laboratory so that blood samples can be run here. At this site we conduct routine surgeries with our vets and nurses to monitor the anaesthetic. Overnight care this available at our hospital, in order to ensure that our patients receive full monitoring.
Our Salford site is a local branch site offering a consultation service.
