

Jessica Beckett BSc BSc(hons) DipAVN RVN
Head Nurse
Jess qualified as an RVN in 2008 after completing a degree in Animal Science in 2005. She completed her Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing as well as the degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2013. She worked in a small animal hospital in Nottingham for 10 years before moving to PetMedics as our Head Nurse in 2015. She leads our team of almost 50 nurses and Patient Care Assistants. Jess has a strong passion for emergency and critical care work as well as complex anaesthesia. She lectures and writes journal articles in surgery, anaesthesia and emergency and critical care for fellow nurses, as well as teaching pet first aid to the public.
Outside of work she has an allotment, enjoys music and reading, is (almost!) fluent in sign language, and is a keen supporter of Manchester Storm ice hockey team. She has seven cats and a dog, all rescues from work.


Gemma Cooke RVN
Deputy Head Nurse
Gemma started veterinary nursing in 2007 and qualified in 2009. She has worked at PetMedics since 2016 and was promoted to Deputy Head Nurse in 2017. She really enjoys working in the ICU ward and caring for the critical patients, as seeing them improve each day makes every day worthwhile. Gemma has a huge love of cats and is often asked to assist with the nervous ones we have in the hospital. At home she has two dogs and seven cats - all rescue pets, and her hobbies include fostering for her local animal rescue, volunteering with StreetPaws charity and volunteering to feed the rough sleepers in Manchester. She is also currently studying an advanced certificate in Emergency and Critical Care, which is helping her to pass on further learned skills and knowledge to her colleagues and student veterinary nurses.


Rebecca Faulkner RVN
Deputy Head Nurse
Rebecca has worked in veterinary practice since 2010 and qualified as an RVN in 2014 after completing her veterinary nurse training in charity practice. After joining the PetMedics team in 2016, Rebecca has completed her certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and has a particular interest in surgery and anaesthesia. Rebecca enjoys walking her two dogs, Chihuahua called Nigel and Maggie a Whippet cross and also has a cat, Eski, all rehomed through working as a vet nurse!


Eddie Boss RVN
Eddie qualified two years ago from Bottle Green Training in Derbyshire and started working at PetMedics in January 2018. Outside of work Eddie likes the gym, running, listening to music and going to gigs. Eddie is also really good at singing badly!


Sarah Carney DipAVN (Medical) RVN
Sarah has been working for PetMedics since 1999, joining after qualifying earlier that year. Additionally she gained her advanced medical diploma in 2002. Sarah has two French Bull Dogs, and outside of work enjoys walking them and socialising with friends.


Jess Jaremczuk RVN
Jess was initially employed as a night auxiliary nurse, but joined the day team in 2015 to undertake her veterinary nurse training. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in December 2017. In her spare time she walks her dogs, competes with her horse in shows and enjoys socialising with friends. She also likes to make jewellery. She has two dogs, two cats, a horse and two guinea pigs. She once held a birthday party for her dog and had over 15 other dogs attend! A very popular dog indeed.


Lauren Keenan RVN
Lauren qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2011 and initially joined PetMedics as a locum in 2016, but has since taken a permanent position as our dedicated consultation nurse undertaking a variety of clinics. Before working with us, she previously spent two years working as a veterinary nurse in New Jersey in the USA. Lauren owns a dog and horse, and outside of work enjoys walking and horse riding.


Georgina Mitchell RVN
Georgy qualified in 2017 whilst working at a first opinion practice in Cheshire. She began working at Petmedics in June 2018 taking on a rotating pattern of day and night shifts. Georgy is currently studying for a Certificate in Wound Management. She owns a Shar-Pei X called Coco.


Kayleigh Perfect RVN
Kayleigh has been working for PetMedics since 2013. She moved to Manchester from Essex to complete her training and has been qualified since 2014. She is currently working towards her Vets Now certificate in emergency and critical care. She has two cats at home and outside of work enjoys reading, computer games and geeky stuff.


Nick Shackleton FdSc PgCert Dip. AVN (Surgical) RVN
Nick qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2001 and gained his advanced diploma in veterinary nursing in 2010. He has worked for PetMedics since 2011 on a part time basis and during this time has gained a passion for diagnostic imaging; he is now our dedicated diagnostic imaging nurse undertaking plain film radiography and computed tomography scans, as well as assisting with ultrasound produces. Nick returned to full time nursing in 2017 after seven years working for the NHS working in radiography as an assistant practitioner, developing skills and knowledge in this area. During this time he gained both a foundation degree and a post-graduate certificate in health care. When he’s not working Nick enjoys running, walking, cycling, socialising with friends, music and movies. Nick has a cat that he rescued at six weeks old. An interesting fact is that he appeared as an extra in the remake of the classic film 'The Railway Children'.


Hollie Southwell FdSc RVN
Hollie qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017 from Myerscough College. She has worked at PetMedics since, and now alternates between day and night shifts. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, two cats and a Dachshund.


Holly Bolam
Student Veterinary Nurse
Holly has worked at PetMedics since 2015 and is currently training to become a veterinary nurse. Outside of work she enjoys socialising, travelling, walking and baking. Holly has two dogs at home and a young daughter.


Anna Harvey
Student Veterinary Nurse
Anna has been working for PetMedics since 2016 and is currently half way through her nurse training. Outside of work she enjoys going camping and socialising with friends. She has a dog at home. When Anna was two years old she appeared on a poster for a dangerous dog’s awareness campaign.


Vanessa Matthews
Student Veterinary Nurse
Vanessa is currently at college to train as a veterinary nurse. She previously worked at PetMedics as an auxiliary nurse and has had first aid training for both humans and animals. Vanessa is interested in theatre and her hobbies outside of work are swimming and socialising. She has a Staffie called Belle and a Shepherd called Ace.


Thomas Merry
Student Veterinary Nurse
Thomas joined the practice as a student veterinary nurse and will start his training in September 2018. When he’s not working he enjoys socialising with friends and family, going to the cinema and eating out where likes to try different cultural foods.


Laura Ryan FdSc
Student Veterinary Nurse
Laura holds the FdSc animal welfare qualification as well as the NVQ veterinary care assistant qualification. She is interested in surgery, medical cases and canine behaviour.


Leanne Corps
Auxiliary Nurse
Leanne has worked at PetMedics since 2016. She is currently employed as an auxiliary nurse, but hopes to undertake her veterinary nurse training in 2019. Outside of work Leanne enjoys travel, socialising, the gym and show jumping. She owns two Cocker Spaniels named Luna and Lacey. Leanne has travelled around Europe competing in show jumping events.


K’leigh Grey
Auxiliary Nurse
K’leigh has worked for PetMedics since 2014 as an auxiliary nurse. Outside of work she enjoys walking her dog, socialising, cooking, baking and travel. K'leigh has a number of pets at home, including two dogs, a bearded dragon, a budgie and a rabbit. She is excited about qualifying and would love to travel the world one day.


Megan Shaw
Auxiliary Nurse
Megan has worked for PetMedics since 2016. She is employed as an auxiliary nurse currently and hopes to go on to train as a veterinary nurse in the future. Outside of work Megan enjoys running, baking and travelling. In 2015 she travelled to South Africa and Sri Lanka to undertake conservation experiences. She has a cat and a dog at home named Nutmeg and Lola.


Holly Parkin BSc (Hons)
Night Auxiliary Nurse
Holly has been employed with us since 2016 as a part of the night team, working as an auxiliary nurse. She has a degree in animal behaviour which she gained in 2013. When not at work Holly enjoys walking, both with and without the dog, and reading about animal nutrition. She has a dog, five hamsters, two rats and four mice. She is also a vegan.


Kelly Torr BSc (Hons)
Night Auxiliary Nurse
Kelly started with us in 2017 and is part of the night team working as one of the auxiliary nurses. In 2014 she gained a degree in wildlife conservation and zoo biology. When not working she rescues animals, takes part in canicross and helps track missing animals. Kelly plans to do a bungee jump in the near future and is therefore a bit of an adrenaline junkie.
