As part of our refurbishment we installed a new 16 slice CT scanner at PetMedics. CT is much more sensitive than radiography for checking for metastases or other thoracic imaging. It is also much more useful for elbow and shoulder imaging and imaging of the head, to name a few.
We offer CT scans as an outpatient service for those pets that are clinically stable. If your pet is otherwise systemically unwell, then we may ask for the whole case to be referred for management in this instance. This is something that will be discussed and agreed with your vet. A full report will be sent back to your vet once the scan has been completed, usually within 48 hours.
We also have digital radiography and a dedicated imaging nurse, who in addition to being a veterinary nurse, has other imaging qualifications in the human field.
