We offer referrals in the areas below. Please contact us prior to referral to discuss the suitability of the referral to PetMedics. All referrals other than emergency cases require a referral form and relevant history. It is preferable that the appropriate vets speak to us to discuss the case, but we understand that is not always feasible.
Surgery
Here at PetMedics we are proud to be able to offer a range of surgical procedures, including but not limited to:
- TTA (Cruciate ligament repair)
- Patella surgery
- Tie back surgery
- BOAS surgery (we have a team dedicated to dealing with brachycephalic breeds, helping to ensure that any surgery is as safe as it can be for these breeds)
- Complex mass removals
- Pelvic fractures
- Oncology related surgery
Please contact us about your surgical case to discuss suitability of referral and pricing.
Internal medicine
We strive to offer a comprehensive internal medicine service, with a complete review of the history, full clinical examination, imaging techniques and laboratory testing where required. We have an excellent internal laboratory, with the ability to run full biochemistry and haematology samples in house, with the addition of electrolytes, blood gases, lactate, cortisol, bile acids, T4 and TSH.
In addition to the above services we also offer chemotherapy.
Please contact us to discuss case suitability and availability for these services.
Diagnostic imaging
We are now able to offer an advanced imaging service. Our team includes experienced ultrasonographers who are available most weekdays. We have a visiting MRI machine once monthly. Our standard MRI service is to image the area required and send the images back to the referring vet. However if you also require interpretation we can provide this. For ultrasonography you will receive a report with the findings.
We also offer endoscopy services, including the ability to perform:
- Bronchoscopy
- Rhinoscopy
- Gastroscopy and duodenoscopy if required
- Colonoscopy
- Endoscopic foreign body removal if appropriate
- Endoscopic biopsies as necessary
Please contact us to discuss suitability of cases and costs.
CT Scanning
As part of our refurbishment we installed a new 16 slice CT scanner at PetMedics. We offer CT scans as an outpatient service for those pets that are clinically stable. If your pet is otherwise systemically unwell, then we may ask for the whole case to be referred for management in this instance. This is something that will be discussed and agreed with your vet. A full report will be sent back to your vet once the scan has been completed, usually within 48 hours.
Dentistry
Colin Baxter MRCVS was a founder and has been president of the British Veterinary Dentistry Society, as well as being one of the co-founders of the European Veterinary Dentistry Society.
We now have the capability to deal with all manner of dental problems including (but not limited to):
- Digital radiography for full mouth assessment
- Orthodontics
- Endodontics
- Oral surgery
- Reparative work for enamel defects
- Extractions
Emergency and critical care
We are happy to accept referrals for emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. If you are referring an emergency to us please call the practice to discuss the case.
Brachycephalic breeds
Our nurses have been through additional training to ensure that we can make any anaesthetic as safe as possible for brachycephalic breeds.
